About the event

Step into the story of Campbell at the Ainsley House, a beautifully preserved 1925 English Tudor Cotswold cottage built during the Arts and Crafts movement. Once the third home of local canning pioneer John Colpitts Ainsley and his wife Alcinda Ainsley, this charming historic house offers an intimate glimpse into the elegance, innovation, and community spirit of early 20th-century Campbell.

Originally located at the corner of Hamilton and what is now Bascom Avenue, the home was lovingly relocated in 1990 to 300 Grant Street after being donated to the City of Campbell by the Ainsley family. Today, both the Ainsley House and its Carriage House are proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places (2005), recognizing their architectural beauty and historical significance.

Begin your visit in the Carriage House Visitor Center, where engaging exhibits introduce you to the Ainsley family and Campbell’s rich agricultural roots. Be sure to browse our museum gift shop, located inside the Carriage House, featuring unique homewares, locally inspired gifts, books, keepsakes, and one-of-a-kind treasures you won’t find anywhere else.

From handcrafted details and period furnishings to heritage gardens and thoughtfully curated exhibits, every corner tells a story. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, architecture lover, or simply looking for a charming afternoon escape, the Ainsley House invites you to experience Campbell’s past in a warm and welcoming setting.

Plan your visit and step back into the 1920s.
