SAN JOSE ROCKS! THE HISTORY OF ROCK MUSIC IN THE SANTA CLARA VALLEY
With Dan Orloff, Founder & Chief Rock Officer of San Jose Rocks
Think the history of rock and roll happened somewhere else? Think again. The Santa Clara Valley has been home to some of the nation's most influential musicians and bands, including the Grateful Dead, the Doobie Brothers, and many others who got their start right here in the South Bay.
Join local music historian Dan Orloff as he takes us on a journey through the region's rich musical heritage, from the early days of radio to the rise of legendary rock bands. Did you know that one of America's first disc jockeys was from San Jose? Discover the surprising stories, iconic venues, and local talent that helped shape the soundtrack of a generation.
Dan will also share insights from his ongoing San Jose Rocks project, a lifelong effort to put San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley on the musical map and celebrate the area's often-overlooked contributions to American music history.
