Join us for an evening with Author Traci Bliss as she details the history of Big Basin. Her book  BIG BASIN Redwood Forest, California's Oldest State Park follows the amazing efforts to preserve the ancient redwood forest. Traci Bliss retired early from her career as an award-winning education professor to research the untold saga of Big Basin. In Big Basin Redwood Forest: California’s Oldest State Park, she weaves together the motivations, friendships, obstacles, and triumphs that began our extraordinary system of State Parks. For example, a handful of women from San Jose and Santa Cruz, exceptional journalists, contributed 90% of all publicity for the movement. Bliss, whose family arrived in Santa Cruz as pioneers in the 1840s, received her BA, MA, and PhD from Stanford and an MPA from the University of Texas at Austin.
